Voronezh Chess Festival-2018 finished

Voronezh chess festival-2018 finished today, June 21. Four grandmasters from Russia shared the first place, Dmitry Kokarev is the winner by tie-break, so he repeated his success achieved in year 2011. Andrey Stukopin is the second, Dmitry Bocharov is the third, Nikita Matinian is the fourth.

Eight chessplayers achieved international title norms. 13-year-old Javokhir Sindarov (UZB) and Ilia Iljiushenok (RUS) fulfilled the GM norms.

On the festival closing ceremony, tournament director Alexander Raetsky, president of Voronezh region chess federation Sergey Zhuravlev, the main event arbiter Vladimir Makhnev and other speakers claimed that Voronezh chess festival is one of the most important chess events in Russia and will be such event in the future.
